Adding Projects to Your Portfolio
Your projects are the heart of your portfolio. Here's how to add them effectively:
Project basics
For each project, include:
- Project title: Clear and descriptive
- Client/Company: Who was the project for (if not confidential)
- Year completed: When the project was finished
- Location: Where the project was implemented
- Category: Type of project (residential, commercial, infrastructure, etc.)
Visual content
Add high-quality visuals that showcase your work:
- Images: Photos, renderings, technical drawings (1200x800px minimum)
- Videos: Walkthroughs, timelapse of construction, etc.
- 3D models: Interactive models that employers can explore
- Before/After comparisons: Show the transformation
Project description
Write a comprehensive description that covers:
- Project brief: The client's requirements and objectives
- Challenges: Problems you had to solve
- Approach: Your methodology and solutions
- Your specific role: Your contributions to the project
- Technologies used: Software, materials, techniques
- Outcomes: Results, client feedback, awards
Technical details
Include relevant technical information:
- Size/scale: Square footage, dimensions, capacity
- Budget: Project cost (if not confidential)
- Timeline: Duration of the project
- Sustainability features: Energy efficiency, green certifications
- Collaborators: Other professionals or firms involved
Tip: Focus on quality over quantity. It's better to have 5-7 well-documented projects than 15+ with minimal information.
